Asbury Park Boardwalk & Lake
View accross Wesley Lake to the Asbury Park boardwalk and amusements. In 1880 Asbury Park got its first promenade boardwalk, expanding over 1,000 feet. By the 1890s, Asbury Park was a thriving city for both businesses and vacations. Asbury Park was named for Methodist bishop Francis Asbury. |

Fair Haven, NJ

Fair Haven Docking Pier
Fair Haven dock was erected circa late 1840s; Allowed steamboat access to The SeaBird, one of the two principal vessels on the Navesink River run. The SeaBird, sister to the Albertina, was built in 1866, was 182 feet and was the longest running (60 year career!) of the route's steamers. |

Red Bank Register
Located on the corner of Broad Street & Front Street. November 5, 1882, after the fire that started in Child's barn, spreading to J.H. Peters Co. and the Spinning and Patterson Building, both of which were saved by occupants who kept moist cloths draped over the building. Nevertheless, the Register issued a special fire edition the following day. |

Rumson, NJ

Rumson Fire Company
Organized in September 1905; chartered in 1906 when the Fire House was built on Center Street (near Ridge Road). Location is now the home of the Junior League of Monmouth County.

Paddlewheeler Swing Bridge
First Oceanic bridge opened in 1891 had its draw close to the Rumson shore; the former locations of the navigation channel. |

Albertina docked at Victory Park
The Albertina, sister to the SeaBird, built in 1882, 165 feet, the 2nd prominent Merchant Steamboat Company craft, was something of a town icon. Included in the Fair Haven town seal in the 1962 Golden Jubilee.
Victory Park on the Oceanic shore was a very active recreations site circa 1920s. It was built on Ligier & Brown property, purchased by Bertram Borden in 1919 and dedicated on July 4, 1920.

Shrewsbury, NJ

Allen House
Long tradition as a key local meeting place though its purpose changed through time: a tavern, store and a home of a physician. Built by Judah Allen in the late 17th century; later purchased by Dr. Edmund W. Allen (unrelated) a Shrewsbury area physician, where it maintained its traditional role as a community center. Holds history of Revolutionary War bloodshed, including the 1779 "Allen House massacre", first reported in a 3/25/1846 letter.

Christ Church
Built between 1769-1774 by prominent Philadelphia builder/architect Robert Smith. Front facade features 2 Doric order doorway surrounds. The design of the cupola has been replicated in prominent city buildings in Philadelphia, PA and Williamsburg, VA. Internments in the cemetery began c. 1720. Located in Shrewsbury's historic Four Corners (Broad Street & Sycamore Avenue). |

Quaker Meeting House
The Religious Society of Friends at Shrewsbury dates back to the 1665 settlement of the area. Several earlier meeting houses were burnt or distroyed; the building which stands today at the NE corner of Broad Street & Sycamore Avenue - meeting house and cemetery - was built in 1816. Meeting became inactive in 1907, officially reinstated in 1942 & has been active since. |
